Yashoda Hospitals Performs Advanced TAVI Procedure on 77-Year-Old Patient with Severe Aortic Stenosis

The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition

Yashoda Hospitals, Somajiguda, has successfully performed a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) on Vasudevamurthy Samudrala (77), a resident of Khammam, Telangana, who was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis with normal left ventricular function.

Samudrala presented with complaints of chest discomfort and was admitted for further evaluation. Detailed investigations, including echocardiography and CT aortography, confirmed severe aortic valve stenosis. Considering his age and clinical condition, the cardiology team opted for a minimally invasive TAVI procedure as a safer alternative to open-heart surgery.

The procedure was successfully performed on January 19, 2026, using a 26 mm Medtronic Evolut PRO+ valve via the right femoral artery. The intervention was uneventful, with excellent post-procedure results showing no aortic regurgitation, no paravalvular leak, and optimal valve function. The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition.

Speaking about the procedure, Dr Jagadesh Madireddi, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Yashoda Hospitals, said, “TAVI has revolutionised the management of severe aortic stenosis, especially in elderly patients who may not be ideal candidates for open-heart surgery. In this case, the patient had excellent outcomes with rapid recovery and minimal complications. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are key to improving survival and quality of life in patients with valvular heart disease.”

Yashoda Hospitals continues to be at the forefront of advanced structural heart interventions, offering world-class cardiac care delivered by expert clinicians and backed by cutting-edge technology.
