The new technology division will serve as Mopec Group’s innovation hub, supporting digital tools that improve workflow efficiency, documentation and integration across the pathology continuum.
Mopec Group has introduced Cortex Systems as its dedicated technology division, formalising the company’s focus on connected pathology workflows and integrated laboratory solutions.
The move builds on Mopec Group’s position in pathology equipment, consumables and laboratory systems. Cortex Systems will function as an innovation hub for tools that improve workflow efficiency, strengthen documentation practices and connect key stages across the diagnostic process.
Pathology laboratories are under pressure to improve consistency, turnaround time and documentation quality while managing increasingly complex diagnostic workloads. In this context, integrated technology platforms are becoming more important as laboratories move away from fragmented analogue processes.
Cortex Systems is expected to work across Mopec Group’s portfolio to support technologies that fit into existing laboratory environments and future product development. The aim is to create a more unified experience across specimen handling, documentation, workflow management and diagnostic support.
The announcement also reflects a wider shift in pathology toward more connected infrastructure, where equipment, digital tools and laboratory processes are increasingly designed as part of the same workflow. For Mopec Group, Cortex Systems creates a clearer structure for technology-led development within its broader pathology solutions business.
The practical impact will depend on how Cortex Systems translates its innovation mandate into deployable tools for laboratories. As digital pathology adoption grows, workflow integration and ease of implementation will remain central to whether new platforms gain traction in routine diagnostic settings.
